Manga vs Anime

We are also asked at Japan Craft what is the distinction between manga and anime. Although both are similarly important to Japanese culture and entertainment, the two aren’t the same. To  put it simply, manga is the term given to the Japanese comic books and graphic novels, while anime is the Japanese animation.

While both appear to be called genres in the West, they are in fact a representation of how the material is made. They have several parallels, and both were attributed to Osamu Tezuka, often referred to as ‘Manga’s godfather’ and ‘Japanese Walt Disney.’

Manga

Manga are not anime but comic books. Manga is mostly written in black and white, as opposed to anime. Why?  Since they’re usually published weekly it will take too much time and money to print them in colour. Manga is generally reasonably inexpensive to print and only involves the output of a limited number of artists. In reality, it may take only one, the mangaka, who is normally both the author and illustrator, as well as carrying out the printing process in other positions.

Anime

The word anime is used in Japan to refer to any animation, just as cartoon is in English. Only elsewhere has anime been the term specifically related to Japanese animation. There is some debate over whether the term anime can be given to animation not from Japan. Though technically it can, anime has become synonymous with Japan, at least in the English language. Anime has visually distinct character features, and is intentionally using a minimal template to represent motion. Most animations in the West are cartoons used to tell stories for children, while anime also contains complicated plots and characters with adult themes.Anime has visually distinct character features, and is intentionally using a minimal template to represent motion. And there you have it! A brief comparison between manga and amine.
